To send your first DM on Instagram, take a picture as you normally would. You can apply all the same filters to "DM photos" as you can with all other Instagram messages. When you prepare to send it directly to somebody (or a team of individuals)-- faucet NEXT as usual.
From the Share to menu to the top of the display, faucet DIRECT (see # 1 in screenshot listed below). Currently tap inside the Write a caption ... window, and type out your message (see # 2 in screenshot listed below).
